Well, Memorial day weekend ended up being a beautiful weather weekend with plenty of family outings nearby.
We began our weekend with Strawberry picking at a great family farm close to home called Orr's Farm Market. (For us close to home is just about anything within a 1.5 to 2 hour radius). We ended up picking 15 pounds of strawberries in about 1.5 hours on Saturday AM. Check out Orr's Farm online at: http://www.orrsfarmmarket.com/
Then on Sunday we continued our search for a new church home. We met a few nice folks and the sermon was closer to being exegetical in nature than most of the story-based preaching that our churches seem to be famous for these days.
After church we headed home for lunch then took a family "hike" at Catoctin Mountain in MD. It was a outing. Check it out at: http://www.nps.gov/cato/
We enjoyed the sounds of nature, the ants, beetles, millipedes, rippling waters, fallen over trees to see the roots and so much more. We took a moderate hike from the Visitor Center to Cunningham Falls, which was a 2.8 mile round trip through the forest with some inclines, mud, and "rock hopping."
Pictures to come soon...oh and it is a great home schooling family field trip!
