Memorial Day Weekend

Well, Memorial day weekend ended up being a beautiful weather weekend with plenty of family outings nearby.

We began our weekend with Strawberry picking at a great family farm close to home called Orr's Farm Market. (For us close to home is just about anything within a 1.5 to 2 hour radius). We ended up picking 15 pounds of strawberries in about 1.5 hours on Saturday AM. Check out Orr's Farm online at: http://www.orrsfarmmarket.com/

Then on Sunday we continued our search for a new church home. We met a few nice folks and the sermon was closer to being exegetical in nature than most of the story-based preaching that our churches seem to be famous for these days.

After church we headed home for lunch then took a family "hike" at Catoctin Mountain in MD. It was a outing. Check it out at: http://www.nps.gov/cato/

We enjoyed the sounds of nature, the ants, beetles, millipedes, rippling waters, fallen over trees to see the roots and so much more. We took a moderate hike from the Visitor Center to Cunningham Falls, which was a 2.8 mile round trip through the forest with some inclines, mud, and "rock hopping."

Pictures to come soon...oh and it is a great home schooling family field trip!

Whew! Time TOTALLY Flies!!!

So, we're back in the Sates. Been home for a couple of weeks now. Here's a recap:

We arrived home late in the day on May 12, 2008 from our 2 month excursion to Macedonia. Upon arriving home, we had a lot of unpacking to do and some cleaning in the house. Zoran had to mow our jungle of a yard...in the rain with an electric mower!

Then, we all got sick, like dominoes, starting with Zoran, progressing to me, then our little guy Pavle. Fevers, runny noses, sneezing, achy-ness and just plain blahs. But we all got past that and moved into our new at home routines.

We miss our new friends and of course family back in MK, but thank God for the technology to keep connected!

Not Much Posting from MK

Ok...so I have (as usual) been lax on my posting from MK (that's Macedonia). Time is flying faster than I thought! We only have less than 2 weeks left in our 2 month visit. And so much has been going on it's hard to tell what all we've been up to in a short post :-)

This past weekend we spent 4 days in and around the Strumica region. http://www.exploringmacedonia.com/?ItemID=52134B158893F8428A440F8AFF8419E5

On the first day we walked around the center and shoping district, had a simple dinner and rested after our few hours travel there by car from Ohrid. We visited some relatives in the evening. The next day we went to the Pazar and again walked around the city, visiting other relatives that Saturday. On Sunday, we walked to church and had coffee afterwards with a cousin of Zoran's. From there, we went to the village of Murtino to visit with even more relatives; having lunch with one family, dessert with another, coffee with yet another, then rounded out our evening by visiting few more relatives for dinner before heading back to the apartment we stayed at in Strumica for the few days while there. The last day, we went back into Murtino to visit with one of Zoran's Aunts who is a a great Evangelist and we spent a good hour to an hour and a half discussing the Bible! It was such a joy to visit with her and the rest of the family!

Pavle enjoyed being in the village, seeing the animals, chasing after chickens, picking a cucumber (his favorite vegetable at the moment) and otherwise enjoying the happenings on a farm!

All in all, we had a great Easter trip. Hard to believe we'll be heading back to the States in just a few days!
